Kilarian and Meiylan

This is the opening of my third novel. It cuts off at the end at an awkward spot, but other than that it should be a satisfying preview of my third novel, tentatively titled, Human Changes.

Kilarian is an expert in his field of mindlinking computers with animals, though he's haunted by a lost love, and is called to a terraforming project on a small, cold planet to examine a creature found encased in the deep ice. Upon inter-communication with the entity, he discovers it understands a great and deadly secret that the human race has forgotten.

This is the second chapter of Human Changes, the story of Endarial and her starship Toast, peaceful vacationers, who meet, in the depths of space, a confused serial killer willing to do anything to make the universe a better place.
